I’ve had a rather quiet, introspective week. God has reminded, once again, through my limited bodily strength that it is His job to save the world, not mine. So I spent this week recovering from going too fast, doing too much the past few weeks. I know He must wonder when am I ever going to learn this lesson. He has to bring me back here over and over and over. One of these days I will learn to do only the things He tells me to do instead of trying to do all of the great ideas of good things I come up with to do.

Anyway, today I was reading Ransomed Hearts’ book The Sacred Romance. I cannot put this book down. Ransomed Heart always uses lots of movies as examples of why stories appeal to our heart. I had the thought earlier today that the reason we love movies so much is because in movies the people always do things we would like to do but would never have the courage to.

Then tonight Tommy and I watched The Girl in the Cafe. It is an amazing story about a person who speaks out in a courageous way simply because she believes it is the right thing to do and because she has nothing to lose. I wish that I could live like this. You would think as a Christian I should be able to. After all, I don’t have anything to lose. I know the end of the story. I know who wins.

WoooooHoooooo! Tuesday, October 16th, we celebrated six months since our log-in date by going out to eat Chinese with some dear friends. It was fun except for Titus saying, “I ate too much,” and then vomiting in my hands, in my purse, and on the floor. Good news is he was fine the rest of the night. I’m just so excited to be six months closer to bringing Rachel home!!!

This morning I was reading Radiant magazine. There was an article about singer/songwriter Lindsey Kane. She wrote a song and also started a campaign called Measure of Beauty to help women measure themselves by how God sees them instead of measuring their beauty by the world standards. You can listen and download the song at her myspace page. This just really struck me because I had a discussion yesterday with some friends about this very thing. Here is Lindsey talking about her campaign.

Jenny Bowen, executive director and founder of Half the Sky Foundation, has entered a contest sponsored by a newspaper in China to be chosen as one of the people to carry the Olympic torch in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Here is a little bit about her organization:

Half the Sky was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the
prospects for orphaned children in China. We establish and operate
infant nurture and preschool programs, provide personalized learning
for older children and establish loving permanent family care and
guidance for children with disabilities. It is our goal to ensure
that every orphaned child has a caring adult in her life and a chance
at a bright future.

Jenny has two adopted daughters from China and currently lives in Beijing. If chosen she would like to run with 8 orphan from their programs in 8 different provinces. Voting ends Sunday. Go here to vote:

One of my friends asked, so I want to clarify that I rode the screamer at Frontier Park in Colorado. I’m in the purple shirt in the previous post. Here is a video of the screamer filmed the same weekend I was there.

The title’s a quote from a magnificent new friend I met at a Captivating Women’s Retreat high in the mountains in Colorado this past weekend. After Sally and I conquered “The Screamer”(which is very appropriately named) at Young Life’s Frontier Ranch, we were asked by onlookers, “How was it?” To which Sally responded, “It was heinously awesome!”

My friend, Amanda, and I had an incredible time in Colorado! This was my second Captivating retreat, and I definitely plan to go back. God works powerfully and performs amazing healing at these retreats. I highly recommend them, both Wild at Heart for the men (Tommy has been twice) and Captivating for the women. It is definitely worth the cost. Tommy says that you should sell your house if you have to in order to afford to go. That’s an extremely high recommendation coming from Tommy! These retreats have truly changed the way we live.

Ransomed Heart Ministries is doing a tremendous job at sharing the missed messages of the gospel. Tommy and I have read and/or listened to almost all of the resources available on their website and highly recommend them. The Hope of Prayer is completely changing the way I pray and is worth every penny. And their newest release The Utter Relief of Holiness I believe is the best message of all!

The magnificent beauty of the Colorado Rockies, the indescribable worship–hundreds of women passionately pouring out their hearts to our mighty Creator, the great joy of hearing my Lord speak words of love and healing over ME! I just cannot adequately describe what one of these retreats is like. It is like no other retreat or time of worship I’ve ever experienced!
