Jenny Bowen, executive director and founder of Half the Sky Foundation, has entered a contest sponsored by a newspaper in China to be chosen as one of the people to carry the Olympic torch in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Here is a little bit about her organization:

Half the Sky was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the
prospects for orphaned children in China. We establish and operate
infant nurture and preschool programs, provide personalized learning
for older children and establish loving permanent family care and
guidance for children with disabilities. It is our goal to ensure
that every orphaned child has a caring adult in her life and a chance
at a bright future.

Jenny has two adopted daughters from China and currently lives in Beijing. If chosen she would like to run with 8 orphan from their programs in 8 different provinces. Voting ends Sunday. Go here to vote:
