Sorry for not posting sooner. Rachel’s surgery has been moved to August 4th.
Picking up where my last post left off, we were supposed to find out something at 8am. About 8:30am Tommy went to ask the nurses if they had heard anything. They sheepishly said, “Dr. Kirkland’s nurse practitioner will be coming to talk to you in a minute.” A bit later she came in cringing and saying, “I really don’t want to come in this room.” She apologized repeatedly but said that Dr. Kirkland was in so much pain that he couldn’t talk this morning. His wife called and said that she had to take him to the ER. In the background she could hear Dr. Kirkland saying, “If they want to stay one more night…” Of course, we’re just ready to get home at this point. They offered to get us free passes to the zoo, so it wouldn’t be a wasted trip. But we REALLY just wanted to get home.
The nurse practitioner said that they did ask another surgeon if he would do the surgery. He said, “No, Dr. Kirkland needs to do this one.” It’s great to know that he’s the best one to do Rachel’s surgery. We didn’t pick him; Rachel’s cardiologist did.
I don’t how much Rachel understands about what was going to happen, but she was thrilled and a bit full of herself after the surgery was canceled. 🙂
So please pray for healing for Dr. Kirkland. He has been in a lot of pain and needs some relief.
Also, pray for Rachel’s heart, physically and emotionally. After dealing with her anxiety in the hospital this time, I hope that we can heal some of the emotional scars from her Chinese hospital experience.
